John Hummel – Senior Attorney
John is litigator with more than thirty years of legal experience. He has represented thousands of clients facing the most contentions of legal disputes involving death, drugs, money, domestic violence, and child custody fights. John has tried more than seventy-five cases to jury verdict.
John specializes in domestic relations law. He understands that the pain and trauma from fraught relationships are often still raw and real during divorce and child custody litigation. John is here to listen to the details of your relationship with your ex-partner so he can fully understand the dynamics involved in your case. Taking the time necessary to know what you lived through during your relationship enables John to discern what is important to advocate for on your behalf.
Prior to focusing his practice on domestic relations law, John was a criminal defense attorney, and then an elected district attorney. John also practiced health care policy, worked in higher education, and lived and worked in Liberia where he was honored to lead former United States President Jimmy Carter’s collaborative project with the Liberian Government to rebuild the country’s justice sector after their fifteen-year civil war.
John earned a bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College, a law degree from the University of Arkansas, and a master’s degree in international public policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado, Wyoming, and Oregon.
